How the General Directorate of Highways optimized invoice verification across 1,702 facilities

The challenge

Thousands of invoices, checked one account at a time

KGM manages the energy of 1,702 facilities and electricity accounts across 18 regional directorates. Verifying what each one was billed depended on people, manual effort and the AMR portal.

  • High operational effort: invoices tracked and verified by hand, with the process dependent on individuals
  • No independent evidence: billed amounts could not be reliably compared with real consumption
  • Manual penalty tracking: reactive penalties and power factor correction followed facility by facility, and some penalties still went uncaught
  • No data flow: consumption checked by opening the AMR portal one account at a time
The solution

Four moves, one central platform

Automated invoice verification

Finwise analyzes AMR meter data in a single panel, making verification systematic and repeatable.

Automated

AMR cross-check and supplier reconciliation

Invoiced amounts compared against verifiable consumption, with differences reconciled with the supplier.

Recovered

Central reactive penalty tracking

Reactive penalties and power factor correction monitored across every facility, with daily calculations automated.

Penalties prevented

Central analysis and notifications

Every facility's analysis delivered through notifications. AMR faults are taken directly to the distribution company.

Results

Verification that no longer depends on people

Working with Apollo, KGM reached six institutional outcomes across invoice verification, penalty tracking and data flow.

Detected

Billing inconsistenciesFound by independent verification after the manual process had missed them

Recovered

Centralized

AMR data on one panelInformation now flows faster between teams

“In our multi-location structure, verifying and tracking energy invoices created a serious operational burden. With Apollo we moved invoice verification, reactive penalty and power factor correction tracking onto a central and automated footing. Independent verification let us see the inconsistencies in our invoices clearly, and recover a significant amount in the institution's favor. The process stopped depending on individuals and became systematic. We now manage our energy costs with far more confidence.”
